Pjila'si - Welcome

In 2017, Ekistics was hired to work with Group ATN to help evaluate and select a new property for a new home for the Mi'kmaw Native Friendship Society. Our team helped with the selection of a prominent urban site and then developed a conceptual design to help illustrate a number of key design features for the site. These design features included a central courtyard space for cultural celebrations, prominent corner gathering space, Medicinal gardens, and a sweat lodge. Having a significant presence of Mi'kmaw and Indigenous people within our city is of critical importance and this project represents one step in that direction.

Ekistics was then hired to continue the work and provide a more detailed look at what a future building could look like on the proposed site, located at the corner of Gottigen Street and Rainie Drive. The new Mi'kmaw Native Friendship Centre will celebrate Mi'kmaw culture, traditions, and teachings along with the contributions from all Indigenous peoples from across Turtle Island. Wije'winen.
